| Beginning in 2002, with the
creation of "The Lost Bears Club", 640 bears were delivered to local
hospitals and other organizations. Grateful recipients have been the
American Cancer Society Children's Support Group, Maricopa Medical Center,
Desert Samaritan Hospital, St. Joseph's Hospital, John C. Lincoln Hospital,
Ronald McDonald House, Alexander's Abilities, and Hacienda de Los Angeles.
During the 2003 Christmas season, the American Cancer Society delivered 110
bears statewide to children with cancer. In addition,
the On Wings of Love Foundation delivered 60 bears to Maricopa Medical Center and
60 more bears were delivered to Alexander's Abilities Day
Center and to Hacienda de Los Angeles who distributed them to group homes throughout the valley. A visit to
the American Cancer Society's Children's Support Group programs Camp Sunrise and
Camp Sidekick has taken place for the past two years. In September of
2003, non-profit status was granted by the Arizona Corporation Commission,
and tax-exempt status under I.R.S. Code 501(c)(3) was received. Most
recently, a "Christmas in July" program has been established, resulting in
stuffed animals and toys being delivered to children in the Pediatric Unit
at Maricopa Medical Center in the summer of 2004. | |
